“💜 Amber Nicole Thurman and Candi Miller should be here today. Yet the harmful conditions created by Georgia’s six-week ban criminalized the lifesaving care they needed. HB 481 and its supporters are culpable. These losses are devastating. We can’t afford to sit idly by while more lives are lost; we are calling for a mass mobilization to #TrustBlackWomen in the fight for Reproductive Justice. Join me and other leaders for a vigil and rally on THIS SATURDAY, September 28th at 2 PM at the Georgia Capitol 💜”

“Here’s majority of my remarks from yesterday, as I endorsed @kamalaharris and @timwalz. As a progressive Democrat with a harm reduction lens and reproductive justice strategy, the ❗️PREVENTABLE ❗️deaths of Candi Miller and Amber Nicole Thurman have sent me over the edge to be more public in this race for our nation. Please *especially* make a plan to vote in the down ballot races this year & if you have questions about the @gahousedems in your area, DM us! It will take all of us to get to the other side.”

“This #BlackMaternalHealthWeek is personal. Having been a #legislator and a #doula for the same amount of time has made me really concerned about the direction of our state. Doulas are underpaid, midwives are criminalized, lactation workers had to sue to practice, mental health therapists dont intervene until after 6 weeks, abortion is illegal after 6 weeks, infants on Medicaid are subject to long wait times and so much more. Yall who know me know that I am a SOLUTIONIST and AN OPTIMIST. However, to move forward with better birth outcomes in GA, WE MUST all use our voices at the ballot and the Capitol to advocate for specific bills that dont get hearings, to share stories that rarely get media attention and to connect with people who understand. Please read the report our office authored…”

“The anti-abortion majority Supreme Court is a part of a coordinated strategy by anti-abortion extremists who are out of touch with Americans views on abortion. I support pregnancy options because it is too expensive to make a living and too dangerous to deliver in Georgia. We have the worst mortality and morbidity rates. This is why my first bill in 2017 was to expand rights for pregnant workers, yet it languishes in committee year after year due to GOP extremism. This year, I sponsored a proactive resolution to celebrate the 49th anniversary of Roe. Vs. Wade, which was signed by over 49 legislators. It is an honor as a full spectrum doula and person who has chosen abortion to defend choice and to continue to legislate with the truth: comprehensive reproductive healthcare including…”

Signed a brief addressed to the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold abortion rights. Stating: “The constitutional precepts which State Legislators must protect include the principle enunciated by this Court, as firmly encompassed by the right to privacy, that a woman has the right to decide to terminate a pre-viability pregnancy without undue governmental interference…. “As a fundamental right guaranteed by the constitution, and one that strikes at the heart of ordered liberty and individual autonomy, a woman’s right to decide whether to terminate a pre-viability pregnancy should be insulated from the rhetoric and interests of groups whose sole purpose is to undermine Roe and eliminate the fundamental rights enunciated in that case….”

People should not only seek reproductive health and reproductive rights, but they should have access to reproductive justice. “In order to have access to reproductive justice there are really four tenants of that: that means that you have the right to parent, the right to not parent, the right to live in a safe community, and the right to bodily autonomy.
