Let’s meet

Marcus Wiedower

State Representative,
Georgia House District 121

Republican

The proof:

Marcus voted to pass a bill that bans all abortions after a fetal heartbeat (around 6 weeks). It includes exceptions for medical emergencies and rape or incest (but only up to 20 weeks and if a police report has been filed).

Take Action

What to do now:

Tell Marcus how important abortion rights are to you:

This legislator has made their anti-choice position clear. They intend to enact laws that would further limit access to abortion.

What to say:

Call your legislator to share how important abortion rights are to you. While you're on the phone, try to gain a deeper understanding of their exact position.

  • Introduce yourself, including your relation to the district.
  • Emphasize your role in the local community.
  • Explain why abortion rights are important to you.
  • Ask if they will commit to voting for any legislation that will protect the right to an abortion.
  • If they say no, ask which abortion restrictions they are pushing for.

Wiedower said he received hundreds of phone calls about the bill before the vote and thousands of emails and listened to what he called “really tough conversations” leading up to the March 29 vote. “It did take a lot of courage to hit the button to reflect my vote,” Wiedower said. The vote on the bill will continue to be “a hot topic,” Wiedower said, and added that he thought the vote “clouded” the success of the General Assembly on other issues such as healthcare, broadband, and cannabis oil.
