She responded to an anti-abortion group's questionnaire: "Q: Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed? A: I am pro-life, and was active in the movement in college. As the Supreme Court made clear, this is a state decision, given differences of opinion on this contentious issue across regions. The abortion law in NC sets reasonable limits on elective abortion and should be a model for the nation: elective abortions allowed within the first trimester (12 weeks), exceptions for rape and incest (20 weeks) and fetal abnormalities (24 weeks); No limitation if the mother's life is at risk."

Q: Jaime Daniell, your fellow Republican candidate, says that she will oppose any bills that “erode exceptions” of abortion such as rape, incest, the life and health of the mother and life-limiting fetal abnormalities. Would you mind sharing your plan of action on such bills? A: I am pro-life and support reasonable limits that the vast majority of North Carolinians agree with. I also support common sense exceptions in the cases of rape, incest and health of the mother. I would oppose efforts to eliminate those exceptions. Having an abortion is a traumatic life event for all involved. In the state Senate, I would work with local leaders and nonprofits to support women going through difficult pregnancies so that they do not feel the need to resort to abortion.
